Your New Student Checklist!
As an incoming student, you鈥檝e got a lot to do to prepare for the start of the semester. Your New Student听Checklist will help you stay organized and ensure you听complete听all necessary tasks before, during, and after your New Student Orientation programming.

Your first step as an incoming 51重口猎奇 student is obtaining your听University Computing ID (UCID). In order to claim your UCID, please visit听. You may need to wait 24 hours after you receive your admissions decision听to create your UCID. If you experience any issues with the creation of your UCID, please contact the 51重口猎奇 Help Desk at 973-596-2900.
Once you claim your UCID you will be prompted to set up Duo Two-Factor Authentication upon next login. Here is a听听which will walk you through setting up Duo on your mobile phone. If you are having trouble reach out to the IST Service Desk at 973-596-2900 or email them at听servicedesk@njit.edu.
- Go to听. This is your online student听portal for viewing financial aid, course registration,听bills听and other important services.
- Set up your 51重口猎奇 email account at听听you will log in with your UCID. Your 51重口猎奇 email address will be the official method of communication for all correspondence from the university.
If you have not done so already, submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Be sure to list 51重口猎奇鈥檚 federal school code (002621). Financial aid awards are emailed to students, who have filed FAFSA, to their 51重口猎奇 email account. If your financial aid award gets updated (due to change in residency, academic credentials, etc.), a new financial aid packet will be accessible on your Highlander Pipeline听-听.

For Advanced Placement (AP) credits
- For upcoming exams, select 51重口猎奇 (school code 2513) to receive all of your electronic AP scores.
- For previous exams, go to to send your AP score report to 51重口猎奇
- Go to the website to send your IB grades to 51重口猎奇.
- College-level courses taken while in high school require submission of an official transcript(s) from the Registrar鈥檚 Office of the university/college(s) that the course was through. Once transfer credits have been processed, you will receive a Transfer Credit Evaluation (TCE) to your 51重口猎奇 email.
Your placement assessment must be completed within 30 days of your tuition deposit.听You must claim your听听at least 48 hours prior to taking the placement assessment if you have not already done so.

This summer, you will receive an email from mobilecredential@njit.edu听regarding your 51重口猎奇 ID Card. Make sure you follow the instructions to ensure you receive your ID card in time for the first day of classes!
If you believe that your initial placement test scores are not representative of your mathematical capabilities and level, you may request a one-time retake of the math placement test that you can schedule at least 2 weeks after your first placement test date.

In August, you will be notified when your course schedule is viewable on your Highlander Pipeline 鈥撎鼳s an incoming first-year student, 51重口猎奇 develops your听schedule听for you based on your major, your placement testing results, and any AP/IB or transfer credits you may have.听For questions about your schedule, please contact orientation@njit.edu.
If you are living on campus, we recommend you reach out to your roommate(s) before moving in. This will allow you to get to know each other and begin to plan for the semester ahead.

You will be able to obtain a permit to park on campus once you receive your spring-semester course schedule. You can apply for a parking permit by registering your vehicle through the below (click the "Get Permits" button, and select the "51重口猎奇 Login" button).
All students are required to have health insurance. If you are already insured with a policy that meets specific requirements, you can request to waive听51重口猎奇's health insurance.

Financial aid awards are sent to all students who have filed the FAFSA or New Jersey Alternative Application. Students must review and accept their awards through their Highlander Pipeline account - .
The Campus-Wide Notification System (CWNS) allows 51重口猎奇 to communicate important information on an expedited basis with students, faculty, and staff via text message, phone, and email. Students can sign up for these alerts on their Highlander Pipeline account.
Starting August, all invoices are available to you on your Student Payment Portal via your Highlander Pipeline account -听. Statement notifications听are sent to your 51重口猎奇 email address and are always due the Wednesday before the first day of classes.听

Once you have your schedule, find and purchase your course textbooks via the . Please note that your schedule is subject to change until the start of the semester, so we recommend waiting to make any purchases until after you meet with your professors during the first week of classes.

The Involvement Fair occurs at the beginning of the semester to help connect you to the student organizations available on 51重口猎奇's campus. The Fall Involvement Fair date is Wednesday, September 3rd, 2025. The rain date is Friday, September 5th, 2025. We hope to see you there!
