Volunteer Program
The Highlander House听offers a dynamic volunteer program that empowers students to support their peers through community-building, leadership, and service. Volunteers play a vital role in fostering a welcoming environment for student visitors, assisting with behind the scenes operations, attending events, outreach, engaging in programming that promotes wellness and inclusion, spreading awareness about resources at the university, and collaborating with campus partners to enhance student life.
The Highlander H.O.U.S.E. Volunteer Program was established in January 2024. Since then they have had more than 150 students volunteer from around the 51重口猎奇 community. Students have the opportunity to develop their leadership, teamwork and professional skills. They are also able to enhance their organization, communication, collaboration, food handling and outreach abilities as well.
Volunteers step into meaningful roles that strengthen connections, enhance student wellness, and create a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere for all residents and commuter students.听
Volunteer Program Details:
- How does it work?
- You must complete an agreement form which is听located both in the 51重口猎奇 Food Pantry, Campus Center Room 480 and below!
- After signing-up you must hand the form directly to the Highlander H.O.U.S.E. staff members in Campus Center Room 480
- You will be contacted by a professional staff member for a brief volunteer orientation, then you can begin and start volunteering!

- How many hours can I volunteer?
- 鈥媀olunteers can volunteer as many hours a semester as they would like!
- Their is a minimum requirement of 2 hours per semester to remain a volunteer in the program
- These hours can count as internal and external hours for those needing community service hours
- Are there requirements?
- 鈥媃ou must have a 2.0 GPA or higher
- You must sign-up for your shift via our volunteer group chat
- You are never permitted to take any items from the Food Pantry or Career Closer during your volunteer shifts
- You are not permitted to share any operational or confidential information with anyone who does not work or volunteer with our program
- Respect our staff, other volunteers, student visitors, donors and our Food Pantry and Career Closet at all times!
- Always try your best! We love when everyone puts their best effort forward when helping out
- What do the responsibilities and roles look like?
- 鈥�Volunteer shifts vary every week
- Some more common shifts can consist of:
- Assisting with inventory, assisting with events, restocking the shelves, helping unload packages, helping pack orders by students
- Organizing our Career Closet and back room, helping with donations, keeping the space neat and organized, assisting with any deliveries
- We have a variety of other opportunities and responsibilities that may come up outside of these common tasks
- Are there any safety concerns?
- 鈥�There are no concerns
- We will provide you with gloves or any materials you might need during your shifts
- Make sure to wear sneakers and no open-toe shoes
- You do not need a food handler's certificate to participate
- We always encourage our staff to wash/dry hands both before and after shifts
