We are committed to making sure you are placed in the courses that are commensurate to your level of preparation and career goals.

For the Spring 2026, 51重口猎奇 will implement a hybrid placement assessment policy听that integrates standardized test scores with in-person evaluations. Please see the following instructions below to access the registration form that best applies to your situation.听

Currently living out-of-state or abroad & SAT English < 640 (ACT English < 55) OR SAT Math < 660 (ACT Math < 28) OR No SAT/ACT Completed)

Testing with an approved proctor*.

Complete the . Once submitted, the approved proctor will contact you with your test date. If you are unable to obtain a proctor, please contact: placementtesting@njit.edu or call (973)596-8389 to make other arrangements.

All incoming听students must听take the English and Math placement assessments unless you are exempt*. In order to obtain access to the placement assessment, you must claim your at least 48 hours prior to date of your听assessment if you have not already done so. Note: Please access the registration form using your 51重口猎奇 email address.

  • English Placement Assessment
    • English Placement Essay听takes approximately 50 minutes
    • English Placement Survey听takes approximately 20 minutes听听
      • Completion of both sections,听Essay听 & Survey,听is essential听for听appropriate course placement.
  • Math Placement Assessment
    • Math Placement Assessment 听is approximately 2 hours and is divided into three sections:
      • Basic Algebra (25 problems, 30 minutes), Advance Algebra (25 problems, 30听minutes) and Trigonometry (30 problems, 45 minutes)听
        • No calculator usage allowed and all sections must be completed for appropriate placement
        • Completion of all three (3) sections is essential听for听appropriate course placement
